Since my last post, I have continued to work on new lesson plans for inclusion in the future teaching manual. My favorite lesson plans out of the new batch are one that is for drama, where students memorize tongue twisters, and a science lesson plan where students learn about astronomy. I've found that kids are more excited about space when you can show them some of the awesome pictures that NASA has.
This past week we received a letter from the governor letting us know that they recognize our nonprofit status at the state level. This was in response to information I sent them regarding our (non)-liability for corporate and franchise taxes. Since we had already received our 501c3 status from the federal government, I'm sure that made things easier at the state level, although it's my understanding that the state is not required to recognize us as a nonprofit just because the federal government does.
